Okay… I’m late

It’s currently March 29th when I am starting to write this post in my notebook, and I’m recognized that I’ve really fallen behind on my blogging. I’ve had a few people reach out asking when my next post would be, but honestly, while I think I’ve kept to being productive, I didn’t feel like I had much to say to the world so I continued to blow off writing anything and compiling all of my photos. At this point, though, I think enough has happened in my life that I want to backfill and reflect on the last few months. It will also allow me to go through my pictures abefore my sister arrives and gets to see Australia for the first time in April. So here is to writing a bit about my last few months.

After Japan

When I returned from Japan, as is common with most of my traveling, I had no time to take a breath. I almost missed my flight out of Japan because of train delays, but there were thankfully some really nice people at the check in area that expedited me through to the gate and I was able to go from entering the airport to sitting at my gate in 20 minutes, which is absolutely unheard of to me for an international flight. 15 minutes of that was also just walking to the gate itself. I felt like a VIP, but also quite bad that it had to get that close for the flight. On landing back in Melbourne, I went straight into APGM the next day, a work conference that my company hosts that brings hospital executives from Singapore and parts of Australia together to learn more about what they can be doing with the software they pay for. Because I was away for the days leading up to it, I decided on taking on a shift to do luggage check in, and so while it was a lot of traveling back and forth between the office and the conference space, it felt like a fulfilling way to at least ease back into work.

Singapore v2

Then a few weeks later, I was preparing for another flight out to Singapore for work. At the airport they brought out all of the Christmas decorations for the year and so I had fun exploring around and seeing what a tropical Christmas would feel like. This trip was a lot more calm than my first trip into Singapore. Because I was only there during the weekdays and there for work, I tried to find ways to spend my evenings. I found that there was a night safari that sounded interesting and I also ended up going through a few malls trying to find gifts to bring back. I was able to find a cool pokemon shirt for Tanner, my coworker, and a cute ceramic vase, too. Initially, the vase was planned to be a present for a girl I was looking forward to meeting, but ultimately things didn’t work out and we didn’t end up seeing each other. I had a ton of fun at the night safari, so enjoy the pictures and videos from there. I ended up leaving on the last bus out, so at least I know I got my money’s worth!

Afterwards, I finally decided to start to slow things down leading into Christmas. I watched a few dogs for some coworkers, tried to go on a couple of dates (some worked out and some fizzled out before meeting), and had a ton of fun playing volleyball on Wednesdays with coworkers at St. Kilda. I started to read a bit more and did some cooking. I also decided to buy some Christmas gifts and sent them back to my family through the post. While it wasn’t a very “productive” month, I look back really fondly on December. It just felt like I was doing things for the right reasons.
